About Me

Growing up in Chicago didn’t prepare me for the wilder side of life I yearned for. To quell my suburban roots and satiate my farmer heart, my family and I moved to the edge of a Wisconsin town.   George and I took up freelance writing and other jobs as we built a woodworking school and reclaimed a declining farm, one stick and one dollar at a time.  As it turns out, mixing town with country brings a whole new meaning to living on the edge.  Who knew we’d drive our kids to school in our Suburban and schlep pigs to slaughter in the back end of the same vehicle or prepare breakfast for our kids while they sat on the kitchen linoleum, feeding an orphan lamb a bottle of milk replacer?

Arm chair farmers and townsfolk, seeking a less complicated life, will find my experiences weird, sad, and funny, making for entertaining and refreshing reading after a long day at the office.

Besides writing, I’m an ex-biology teacher, a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, a coach, a Girl Scout leader, a Pony Club Volunteer, and a freelance artist.  And, I've begun a journey into becoming a certified Healing Touch practitioner.
